Black Girls Build Inc

JC Sykes

Side Hustler

I Am A

St. Louis, MO, USA

She’s not just building furniture—she’s building confidence, community, and careers.
JC Sykes is the bold, brilliant founder of Black Girls Build Inc, a movement introducing women and youth to the construction industry through DIY workshops and carpentry clinics. As a co-owner of a construction company by day, JC already knows the grind. But it’s her side hustle that’s hammering away at the glass ceiling.

In 2024, she hosted her first SOLD OUT workshop out of state, launched a tape measure reading masterclass (yes—it’s a thing), and was tapped as an ambassador for Chicago Build 2024. Her work teaches more than just measurements; it teaches self-trust, capability, and the power of picking up your own tools.

From the workbench to the boardroom, JC is flipping the script in a male-dominated field. Her passion is contagious. Her faith is unshakable. Her purpose is unstoppable.

“Every master was once a beginner”—and JC is making sure no woman ever has to build alone again.
